Sharing and publishing
There are four ways a map leaves your hands, and the header names three of them: the Collaborate and Publish pills, and Download as .roboworld in the ⋯ menu. Once it is up, get your map played helps people find it.
Build together
- Press Collaborate.
- Tick I understand I should share this link only with people I trust.
- Press Copy link and send it to your friend.
The Collaborate pill hands out a link to this same map. Whoever opens it edits alongside you, live — it is not a copy. Anyone with the link can change or delete your work, and share the link with other people. Only send it to people you trust.
If you are opening someone else's shared map and want your own version instead, the Publish pill reads Make a copy instead — see below.
Publish your map
The Publish pill puts your map on a public page other players can find. It shows three steps — checks, upload, publish — and stops at the first one that fails:
- Checks failed: the window lists problems in your map. Fix them and the Publish button turns back on. See troubleshooting.
- Go fix your texts: some words weren't allowed. Press it, change the text, then publish again.
- Retry: you're offline or the upload failed. Reconnect and press Retry.
When it's done, you get the page link, a Copy link button, a Share on Discord button and Open in Robotopia.
To update your map, change it and publish again. If nothing changed since last time, Publish takes you straight to your page link.
Make a copy
Only the map owner can publish, so on a map that is not yours the same pill reads Make a copy and does exactly that in one click: your own map, yours to publish, no longer tied to theirs.
Save a copy as a file
Download as .roboworld in the ⋯ menu saves the whole map to a file, thumbnail included. Use it for backups, or to hand a map to someone out-of-band. .roboworld, .json and .json.gz can all be imported back from the start screen.
Like Play, download won't run while your map has problems.
Play in game
The Play pill hands your map to the installed Robotopia client. It runs the validation checks first, so this doubles as the quickest way to find out whether your map is sound.

Next: get your map played. Publishing puts it on a page, but people still need to find it.
